5-letter words with no vowels (yes, they exist)
Some Wordle rounds hand you a wall of consonants and a smug little grin. The trick nobody tells you: English has a secret weapon called Y, which cheerfully does a vowel's job while technically not being one. Master these and you'll solve puzzles that look impossible.
The Y-powered rescue words
nymph · gypsy · glyph · lymph · crypt · tryst · sylph · pygmy · hymns · myrrh · wryly · dryly · slyly · shyly · flyby
Notice how many are worth staring at: nymph, glyph, and crypt alone will save you more Wordles than any clever opener.
The truly vowel-free flex (not even a Y)
Want to break someone's brain entirely? A handful of accepted words contain no vowels at all, Y included: cwtch (a Welsh cuddle), crwth (an ancient stringed instrument), and grrrl (as in riot grrrl). Whether your dictionary allows them is a great way to start an argument.
Consonant clusters are exactly where fast word-finders separate from the pack. Want to get faster at spotting them?
Word Bomb throws two-letter combos at you and dares you to build a real word around them before the fuse blows. Nothing sharpens consonant-spotting like a countdown.
